Moore Construction Inc. won top honors in the 2001 Associated Builders & Contractors, Inc. National Excellence in Construction competition. In the contest, Moore won the Eagle Award in the category of industrial projects under $2 Million for the Shell GOAL Venture Project at the Shell Chemical Company’s Geismar, Louisiana facility. This project included the Substation #1 and the GOAL Substation Buildings. Moore completed both buildings within the allotted budget and met a very tight schedule, never sacrificing safety or quality in the effort.
In 2002, Moore Construction Inc. won top honors for the second consecutive year n the Associated Builders & Contractors, Inc. National Excellence in Construction competition. Moore won the Eagle Award again in the category of industrial projects under $2 Million for the Control Building at the Bayou Cove gas-fired power plant for NRG Bayou Cove, LLC an NRG Energy Company. The project was completed in less than 20 weeks. Moore redesigned the building using masonry and hollow core planks as the structure, in lieu of the specified pre-engineered building to complete the building by the due date. The owner, project engineer and construction contractor all offered compliments and praise for Moore, highlighting our attention to safety, quality and schedule compliance.
In 2003, Moore Construction Inc. won the second highest honor in the Associated Builders & Contractors, Inc. National Excellence in Construction competition. Moore won a Merit Award in the category of industrial projects under $2 Million for the ExxonMobil G-Line Project – Multi-purpose Blast Resistant Building. This project was completed by Moore which compressed a five month schedule into just over three months without incident or injury. Moore negotiated the building work with Cajun Constructors, Inc., who chose Moore rather than put the building out for bids. This project was unique in that the building housed a motor control center (MCC), a control room, a kitchen, offices, a mechanical shop, bathrooms and change rooms. Moore was able to achieve all of the goals and objectives requested by Cajun Constructors, ECI and ExxonMobil.
In 2005, Moore Construction Inc. again won the second highest honor in the Associated Builders & Contractors, Inc. National Excellence in Construction competition; but this time the Merit Award was in the category of industrial projects from $2 - $5 Million. It was for the Valero Energy Corporation’s St. Charles Refinery Q&A Laboratory building project. I spite of major last minute scope modifications, Moore delivered this 12, 250 square foot “state-of-the-art” laboratory facility to Valero on time and incident free. Quality was never sacrificed in order to achieve a milestone and the project was completed with over 34,000 injury free man-hours. Moore’s project team handled the changes in scope with the least possible impact to cost and schedule. Moore’s focus on communications between the owner, engineer, and contractor led to a successful project.
